Event Description: Topic: Florida history during the wars Summary: The conquistadors, the Revolutionary War, control by numerous countries, Indian wars, cattle barons, the Civil War, land speculators, and the railroads all left an imprint on Florida. But, World War II is truly the historical event that has done the most to shape today’s Florida. DL Havlin will discuss topics ranging from why Florida figured so prominently in the war effort to detailing activities at some of the 172 military installations. He’ll provide information on strange coincidences, interesting trivia, surprising side effects, economic impact, and lasting effects of the war.
